About Lucy Punch
Born on December 30, 1977, Lucy Punch is an English performer whose work spans film, stage, and television. Her notable film roles include appearances in "Hot Fuzz," "Bad Teacher," "You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger," "Dinner for Schmucks," and "Into the Woods."
Lucy Alice Punch entered the world on December 30, 1977, in Hammersmith, London, England. Her parents are proprietors of a market research firm. Punch received her early education at Godolphin School and later at Latymer Upper School. Between 1993 and 1997, she was an active member of the National Youth Theatre. Although she commenced studies at University College London, she ultimately withdrew to pursue acting professionally. Since 2006, Punch has resided in West Hollywood, Los Angeles.
Punch's acting career began with a 1998 appearance in an episode of "The New Adventures of Robin Hood." Her television credits also feature her portrayal of the somewhat naive daughter of Alison Steadman's character in the short-lived series "Let Them Eat Cake," which starred Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders. For children's television, she played a football player in "Renford Rejects." Her stage debut occurred in 2000 when she took on the role of Elaine in Terry Johnson's West End production of "The Graduate." Her theatrical experience also includes work at London's Royal Court and Bush theatres.
In 2004, Punch took on the role of the vivacious, quirky receptionist, Elaine Denham, in the television series "Doc Martin." She departed the show "The Class" prior to the conclusion of its first twelve episodes. In 2006, her performance in "Are You Ready For Love?" earned her the best actress award at the Monaco International Film Festival. Punch was part of Woody Allen's 2010 film "You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger," stepping into a role previously held by Nicole Kidman. In August 2010, she featured in the BBC Two comedy-drama "Vexed," a three-part police series alongside Toby Stephens. The following year, Punch starred with Cameron Diaz and Justin Timberlake in Jake Kasdan's "Bad Teacher." Although she was cast as the female lead, Deena Pilgrim, in the FX channel's pilot for the TV show "Powers," the role was later re-cast.
From 2002 to 2005, Punch was in a relationship with James D’Arcy, whom she met while filming the television movie "Come Together." In 2014, she began a relationship with artist Dinos Chapman in Los Angeles. Punch welcomed her first child, a son, with Chapman in 2015, and they later had a second son approximately six years thereafter
