Morris's journey began in Arlington, Texas, where she grew up with an early passion for singing. By her preteen years, she was already performing publicly and undertaking tours across Texas. During her late teens and early twenties, she released three independent studio albums while simultaneously relocating to Nashville to chase her country music aspirations. A pivotal moment arrived with the streaming success of her 2015 self-titled EP, leading to a publishing contract and subsequently a recording contract.
Her major-label debut, the 2016 album Hero, released by Columbia Nashville, showcased a blend of country and R&B. The lead single, "My Church," became her breakthrough hit on country radio, followed by successful tracks like "80s Mercedes," "I Could Use a Love Song," and "Rich." In 2018, Morris joined forces with Grey and Zedd for the song "The Middle," a single that achieved significant international pop chart success. Her second album, Girl, arrived in 2019, exploring a diverse range of musical styles and featuring collaborations. This album yielded the number one singles "Girl" and "The Bones."
Morris's third studio album, Humble Quest, was released on March 25, 2022. This release set a Guinness World Record for the most first-day and first-week streams for a country album by a female artist on Amazon Music. Beyond her solo endeavors, she has lent her voice to projects as a member of The Highwomen and in partnership with her former husband, Ryan Hurd.
In terms of commercial success, Morris has two albums with sales certifications in North America.
