Marina Kaye — Biography

Born on February 9, 1998, Marina Marie Madeleine Dalmas, known professionally as Marina Kaye, is a French artist recognized for her singing, songwriting, and composing talents. Her breakthrough came with the widely popular song "Homeless," leading to the release of an EP of the same name in 2014 and her debut album, Fearless, in 2015. Her sophomore album, Explicit, arrived on October 20, 2017, achieving gold certification.

Kaye, born in Marseille to a French father and a homemaker of Algerian-Kabyle heritage, spent her formative years in Allauch. She attended Yves-Montand college until she was fifteen, at which point she left to focus on her music in London. Her musical journey began at the age of ten, sharing cover songs on YouTube. At thirteen, on December 14, 2011, she triumphed in the sixth season of La France a un incroyable talent, the French iteration of the Got Talent competition, performing renditions of songs by Adele and Katy Perry. Despite this victory, she briefly stepped away from singing due to negative experiences at school. A pivotal encounter with Jan Erik Frogg reignited her passion for music. In 2012, she had the opportunity to perform as an opening act for the musical comedy Adam et Ève: La Seconde Chance, directed by Pascal Obispo. She continued to share covers online and opened for prominent artists such as Thirty Seconds to Mars at the Palais des Festivals de Cannes, Florent Pagny on his Vieillir Ensemble tour, and in 2014, for five of Lindsey Stirling's French concerts.

Her first album, Fearless, released in 2015, marked a significant turning point. The single "Homeless," from her EP of the same title, propelled her to fame, topping the SNEP French official singles chart. The album Fearless, recorded in London and New York, was released on May 18, 2015, and featured the track "Freeze You Out," co-written by Sia and Chris Braide. This album achieved triple platinum status in France.

Kaye's second album, Explicit, was released on October 20, 2017, following her appearance in the French comedy Papounet, directed by Dominique Farrugia, in January of that year. She also contributed to rapper Soprano's album L'Everest, featuring on the track "Mon Everest" when it was released in October. The release of the official music videos for "On My Own" and "Something" preceded the album's debut.
