Marina Matsumoto — Biography

Marina Matsumoto, born on June 9, 1969, is a former Japanese adult film performer who has since transitioned into a media personality. Hailing from Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture, she is 158 cm tall with a 82-59-85 cm physique, boasting a C-cup bust. She is recognized for her fair complexion, slender build, and a youthful smile that enhances her alluring "mature woman" (jukujo) appeal.

Her professional journey began after junior high school, where she initially worked in a beauty salon. Matsumoto stepped into the adult film industry in 1988, at the age of 19, with an appearance in the anthology film THE Sailor Suit 4, produced by Uchuu Kikaku. Throughout the late 1980s and into the early 1990s, her fame extended beyond the adult entertainment realm. In music, she was personally invited by Keisuke Kuwata to star as the lead in Southern All Stars' music video for "Megamitachi e no Jouuta." On television, she became a recognizable face on popular variety shows such as Tamori Club. Her acting career saw a significant moment in 1989 when she gained considerable notice for her role in the live-action adaptation of the manga Kyonyu Hunter.

In 1990, at just 20 years old, Matsumoto retired from the industry to get married. She then dedicated the following two decades to her role as a housewife, raising her son. However, her husband's subsequent illness led to a marital dynamic that lacked intimacy. This situation, she has stated, was a catalyst for her rediscovery of her sexuality through an external relationship, which ultimately paved the way for her return to performing.

After a 21-year absence, a 41-year-old Matsumoto made a highly publicized comeback to the industry in 2011. Her return film was a commercial success, selling over 3,000 units and establishing her as a prominent figure in the "mature woman" genre. Unlike her earlier career, her second phase in the industry embraced a wider range of themes with virtually no restrictions. She expanded her work into hardcore categories, including SM, lesbian, and anal content. Collaborating with major production houses such as Madonna and Tameike Goro, she garnered critical praise for her portrayals in dramas centered on "mother-in-law" and "neighbor" roles. Her standing as a leading performer was further cemented by a nomination for the Mature Actress Award at the SKY PerfecTV! Adult Broadcasting Awards.

On June 9, 2019, coinciding with her 50th birthday, Matsumoto announced her second retirement from the industry. She cited several reasons for her departure, including physical considerations, her son's completion of college, and reaching a significant age
