About Mary Lynn Neil
Mary-Lynn is a vocalist, composer, and glamour model from Edmonton, Alberta. At age 10, she caught the attention of Brian Dolph from Cafe Music Group while competing in a singing contest held in Consecon, Ontario, during 2008. Her debut release, "A Daughter's Prayer", originated as a personal composition dedicated to her father, Master-Corporal Mike Neil, who was deployed overseas with the Canadian Armed Forces in Afghanistan. The piece began as an entry in her journal written as poetry in January 2009 before her mother, Donna Neil, noticed the emotional resonance of the words and suggested transforming it into a musical composition. The track was produced in Nashville, Tennessee with Cafe Music Group handling production, while the vocal recording took place at Longshot Studio in Kingston, Ontario. Mary-Lynn was 12 years old when she recorded it. The song achieved international rotation across 26 countries and became instrumental in raising awareness about the hardships endured by military families, especially young children. The piece remains a regular fixture during Remembrance Day, Memorial Day, and ANZAC Day observances. By May 2025, Mary-Lynn had accumulated 507,000 followers on Instagram.
