Melinda Clarke is an accomplished American actress hailing from California. She is best recognized for her roles in various television series, most notably as Faith Taylor in the soap opera "Days of Our Lives" from 1989 to 1990, the recurring character of Lady Heather in "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation," which she played from 2001 to 2015, Julie Cooper in the teen drama "The O.C." from 2003 to 2007, and the menacing psychologist Helen "Amanda" Collins in the action thriller "Nikita" from 2010 to 2013. Born in Upland, California, Clarke grew up in Dana Point, a small harbor city in Orange County known for its long-standing ties to the surfing culture since the 1950s. She is the daughter of actor John Clarke (1931-2019), who held a significant role in "Days of Our Lives" from 1965 until his retirement in 2004, and Melinda chose to follow in his artistic footsteps.
Her debut in film came with a prominent role in the horror comedy "Return of the Living Dead 3" (1993), where she played Julie Walker, a character brought back to life as a sentient zombie after a tragic motorcycle accident. In 1994, she took on a co-starring role as Lexy Monroe in the short-lived fantasy series "Heaven Help Us," which consisted of just 13 episodes. The following year, Clarke appeared as the notorious Amazon Queen Velasca in two episodes of "Xena: Warrior Princess," a character so popular that it led to the creation of a toy figure in her likeness and an appearance in a related video game. In 1997, she also played the female assassin Jessica Priest in the superhero film "Spawn," who is taken aback when her victim is resurrected as a hell-born creature seeking vengeance.
Clarke co-starred as Margo Vincent in the action-adventure series "Soldier of Fortune, Inc." from 1997 to 1999, which focused on the missions of a mercenary team that operated under the auspices of the U.S. government. She garnered attention in the 2000s with guest roles in many popular series, portraying a shape-shifting leader in "Star Trek: Enterprise," an unnamed Siren in "Charmed," the madam Nandi in "Firefly," the poet Macmu-Ling in "Avatar: The Last Airbender," and the Russian spy Black Widow/Sasha Banachek in "Chuck."
From 2021 until 2023, Clarke hosted her own podcast titled "Welcome to the OC, Bitches," which discussed facets of "The O.C." and gained popularity. In 2024, she intended to launch a sequel podcast called "Beyond the OC," with her daughter as a co-host. Trained as a soprano, Clarke has had two action figures produced in her likeness
