Melissa Rauch — Biography

Melissa Rauch is an American performer known for her work in comedy and acting. She achieved widespread recognition through her portrayal of Bernadette Rostenkowski-Wolowitz on the popular CBS comedy series The Big Bang Theory. A native of Marlboro Township, New Jersey, Rauch attended Frank Defino Central Elementary School in her hometown before pursuing her passion for performance at Marlboro High School. She furthered her education at Marymount Manhattan College, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting.

Rauch's breakthrough came in 2009 when she took on the recurring role of Bernadette, Howard Wolowitz's love interest, during the show's third season. Her strong performance led to her character's evolution into Howard's fiancée by the following season, resulting in her promotion to series regular status. The couple's wedding took place in the season five finale. Recognition for her ensemble work came in December 2011 when she received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination alongside her castmates for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.

Her television appearances extend beyond The Big Bang Theory, including guest spots on VH1's Best Week Ever, a recurring part on True Blood in 2010 as Summer, and roles on The Office and the American version of Kath & Kim. The silver screen has also featured her performances in Wright v Wrong and I Love You, Man. On stage, Rauch participates in The Realest Real Housewives, a comedic production featuring Casey Wilson, June Diane Raphael, Jessica St. Clair, and Danielle Schneider, which launched at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater in 2011.

Rauch is married to writer Winston Beigel, with whom she has collaborated on projects including The Miss Education of Jenna Bush. As of January 2025, her Instagram account boasts 2.4 million followers.
