Mena Suvari — Biography

Mena Alexandra Suvari is a multifaceted American actress, producer, fashion designer, and model. She launched her career in modeling and made guest appearances on various television programs before making her cinematic debut in the 1997 drama Nowhere. Suvari gained widespread recognition for her roles in the critically praised comedy-drama American Beauty (1999), which earned her a BAFTA nomination for Best Supporting Actress, as well as in three installments of the American Pie franchise (1999–2001, 2012). Her filmography includes notable titles such as Kiss the Girls (1997), Slums of Beverly Hills (1998), The Rage: Carrie 2 (1999), Loser (2000), Sugar & Spice, and The Musketeer (both 2001), Sonny (2002), Spun (2003), Trauma (2004), and the films Beauty Shop, Domino, and Rumor Has It (all in 2005), Factory Girl (2006), Brooklyn Rules, and Stuck (both 2007), Day of the Dead (2008), and You May Not Kiss the Bride (2010).

Suvari enjoyed recurring roles in the fourth season of the HBO drama Six Feet Under (2004), for which she received a nomination from the Screen Actors Guild, as well as in the second season of Chicago Fire (2013). She notably portrayed Elizabeth Short in the anthology series American Horror Story: Murder House (2011) and reprised her role in American Horror Story: Apocalypse (2018). Other television appearances include the supernatural horror series South of Hell (2015) and the short-lived sitcom American Woman on Paramount (2018). In addition to her acting, Suvari has modeled for Lancôme cosmetics and print advertisements for Lancôme Paris Adaptîve, while also being an advocate for the Starlight Children's Foundation and the African Medical and Research Foundation. She is married and has one child. Mena Suvari proudly embraces her Estonian and Greek heritage, and by November 2025, she had amassed 319,000 followers on Instagram.
