Michelle Yeoh, a celebrated Malaysian actress, first captured global attention through her dynamic performances in Hong Kong action cinema during the 1990s. She is perhaps most widely recognized by international audiences for her part in the James Bond thriller Tomorrow Never Dies and for her pivotal role in Ang Lee's critically acclaimed martial arts masterpiece, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Her rise began in 1983 when she was crowned Miss Malaysia. Yeoh is also a skilled polyglot, fluent in English, Malay, and Cantonese.
