About Nadja Auermann
Nadja Auermann, a German figure of both high fashion and cinema, has captivated audiences with her distinctive presence. Designer Valentino himself once noted a striking likeness between Auermann and the legendary Marlene Dietrich. Observing her striking features, a New York Times fashion writer, Guy Trebay, described her as possessing an "ice maiden visage" complemented by "pole vaulter's legs." Born on March 19, 1971, Auermann's stature in the modeling world was once recognized by the Guinness Book of Records for her exceptionally long legs, the longest of any model globally.
Her journey into the spotlight began in 1989 when she was discovered in a Berlin cafe, leading to her signing with the Karin Modeling Agency in Paris. By 1991, she had transitioned to Elite Model Management, gracing the pages of Vogue Paris and appearing in Benetton advertisements. September 1994 marked a significant moment as her image adorned the covers of both Vogue and Harper's Bazaar. Auermann's catwalk career has included appearances for prestigious houses such as Thierry Mugler, Dolce & Gabbana, Fendi, and Yves Saint Laurent. Her image has also been featured in advertising campaigns for prominent brands including Prada, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, and Hermès. In the latter half of the 1990s, she served as the international face for Shiseido. Her face has graced over a hundred magazine covers worldwide, featured in publications like Vogue, Elle, Harper's Bazaar, and i-D. Throughout her career, she collaborated with celebrated photographers, including Helmut Newton, Steven Meisel, Craig McDean, Juergen Teller, and Peter Lindbergh, who considered her a personal muse.
In her personal life, Auermann became a mother in 1997 to a daughter named Cosima, with Olaf Björn Tietz. Cosima has since embarked on her own modeling career. In 1999, Auermann married German actor Wolfram Grandezka. The same year saw the birth of their son, Nicolas, who has also entered the modeling profession. Auermann and Grandezka's marriage concluded a few years after their son's birth. She welcomed her fifth and sixth children in 2010 and 2013. Auermann finds solace and rejuvenation during her holidays in Heiligendamm, a spa town nestled along Germany's Baltic coast. In 2011, a German court found her guilty of tax evasion, resulting in a fine of 90,000 EUR. An interview with the German press in 2013 revealed that she was residing in Dresden with her children and a partner whose identity she has chosen to keep private.
