About Naomie Harris
Hailing from London, England, Naomie Harris began her journey as the sole child of Lisselle Kayla, a writer for television. Her paternal heritage traces back to Trinidad, while her mother's roots lie in Jamaica. Harris's parents parted ways before her arrival, and she grew up under her mother's care, with no connection to her father. An early inclination towards performance led her to the esteemed Anna Scher Theatre School. Following her training there, Harris secured parts in various productions, including Simon and the Witch in 1987 and The Tomorrow People in 1992. She then pursued higher education, studying social and political sciences at Pembroke College, Cambridge University, an academic chapter Harris found unfulfilling. After completing her degree, Harris honed her craft further at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Her acting career flourished, with her pivotal film role arriving in Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later in 2002. Her impressive filmography also features titles like Miami Vice (2006) and Small Island (2009), the latter earning her recognition as best female actor from the Royal Television Society. Audiences also embraced her portrayal of the mystical Tia Dalma in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006) and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (2007). Global recognition continued to build as she took on the role of field agent Eve Moneypenny in the James Bond film Skyfall (2012). Naomie received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her powerful performance in the 2016 drama Moonlight, a film that secured the Best Picture Oscar that same year. In recognition of her contributions to drama, Naomie Harris was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) by Queen Elizabeth II in the 2017 New Year Honours. As of February 2026, Harris commands a following of 250,000 on Instagram.
