About Natalie Maines

Born on October 14, 1974, Natalie Louise Maines is an American vocalist best known as the frontwoman for the country group The Chicks. Her musical journey took a significant turn in 1995. Following her departure from Berklee College of Music, Maines was invited to join the Dixie Chicks, stepping in to fill the role of lead singer previously held by Laura Lynch. Under Maines' leadership, the band achieved considerable acclaim, securing ten Country Music Association Awards and thirteen Grammy Awards between the years 1998 and 2007. In 2006, with Maines still at the helm, the band, then known as the Dixie Chicks, released the album Taking the Long Way. This record went on to receive five Grammy Awards, including the prestigious Album of the Year honor. Later, after the band decided to shorten their name to The Chicks, their new album, Gaslighter, arrived on July 17, 2020. Maines also pursued a solo career, releasing her album Mother on May 7, 2013.
