Born on January 22, 1984, in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, Raica Oliveira emerged as one of Brazil’s most prominent modeling figures. She is the youngest of three children born to Maria da Conceição Oliveira and Jehovah de Melo Brito. Her lineage is a rich mosaic, encompassing Portuguese, African, and Indigenous Brazilian influences, mirroring the diverse cultural landscape of her homeland. While she completed her schooling at Sao Vicente de Paula in Niteroi, her rapid ascent in the modeling world meant extensive further academic pursuits were limited. Known professionally by her first name, Raica, she harbored dreams of a modeling career from the age of ten, finding initial enjoyment in bodyboarding.

Her professional journey began in 1999, at the age of fifteen, when she was discovered by Sergio Mattos, an agent renowned for spotting emerging talent. That same year, Raica triumphed at the Elite Model Look competition in Brazil, outshining thirty thousand hopefuls. Her success continued on the international stage, where she secured the second-place position in the global final held in Nice, France. This achievement marked a significant turning point, leading her and her mother to relocate to New York to fully embrace her burgeoning modeling career.

Raica became an integral part of what is often referred to as "The Brazilian Bombshells" era, a period from 2000 to 2010 that saw a wave of Brazilian models achieve global superstardom. Alongside notable figures like Fernanda Tavares, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Gisele Bündchen, Raica’s career experienced an meteoric rise. Her runway credentials include appearances for legendary fashion houses such as Dior, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Ralph Lauren. She also graced the esteemed runways of Victoria’s Secret and was featured in their swimwear catalogs in 2005 and 2009.

Her professional representation spanned leading agencies worldwide, including One Management in New York, Oui Management in Paris, Why Not Model Management in Milan, and Next Model Management with offices in London, New York, Milan, and Miami, as well as Model Management in Hamburg. Raica’s striking image was sought after for major advertising campaigns by brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Lancôme, JLO, H&M, and Swarovski, where she held the distinction of being the first Brazilian model to be featured.
