Riley Reyes was born on April 13, 1989, in East Village, South Carolina, where she was the eldest of four children. She recounts her upbringing in a loving family of self-described hippies, who were known in their community as the only ones opting out of church attendance. Her parents both worked as educators. Despite the affection within her household, Riley moved out at the age of fifteen to attend boarding school, leading to a gradual estrangement from her family.

At fourteen, Riley experienced her first sexual encounter with a boy she met at summer camp; their rendezvous took place in a van under the cover of darkness, only to be interrupted by police. Prior to embarking on her adult film career, she had intimate relations with approximately 100 partners. Before transitioning to the porn industry, Riley pursued a career in the arts while living in New York City. During her time in college, she also supplemented her income as a stripper.

Feeling unfulfilled in her previous profession, Riley began to contemplate a career in adult film, attending sex parties in the city on weekends to unwind after long work weeks. She officially entered the industry around 2014, when she was 25 years old. Beyond her work in porn, Riley is a passionate advocate for the rights of sex workers, serving on the board of the Adult Performer Advocacy Committee (APAC).
