About Riya Sen

Riya Sen, a notable figure in Indian cinema, graces the screen in a variety of languages, including Hindi, Bengali, English, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam. Her lineage is steeped in aristocracy; her father, Bharat Dev Varma, traces his roots to the royal house of Tripura. He was the grandson of Princess Ila Devi of Cooch Behar and the nephew of the esteemed Maharani Gayatri Devi of Jaipur. Following in the footsteps of her illustrious mother, Moon Moon Sen, and grandmother, Suchitra Sen, both celebrated actresses, Riya embarked on her acting journey at a remarkably young age. Her initial foray into performance was at five, portraying her mother's onscreen daughter. This was followed by a child role in the 1991 film Vishkanya. A significant turning point arrived with the 2001 low-budget Hindi comedy, Style, directed by N. Chandra, which marked her first commercial triumph. Among her other recognized works are the Hinglish musical, Jhankaar Beats, produced by Pritish Nandy in 2003, and the 2005 Malayalam horror, Ananthabhadram. Her talent was further acknowledged with the Star Guide Award for Best Actress, earned for her role in Noukadubi.
