Rocsi Diaz — Biography

Rocsi Diaz, born Raquel Roxanne Diaz in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, is a multifaceted American television personality, radio host, model, and actress. Her career took off when she became a co-host for BET's music video program, 106 & Park, a role she held from 2006 to 2012. Prior to this, she gained experience as a correspondent for Entertainment Tonight from 2012 to 2014.

Diaz relocated to New Orleans, Louisiana, with her family and is of Honduran and Chilean heritage. During her middle and high school years, she battled anorexia, a fact she revealed on 106 & Park in 2009. She was an active cheerleader throughout that period and is an alumna of West Jefferson High School in Harvey, Louisiana, and Nicholls State University.

Her professional journey began in Dallas, Texas, where she hosted at the urban radio station 97.9 The Beat. Her distinctive, street-smart persona attracted the attention of Boston's Hot 97.7, leading her to a DJ position there. In 2004, she moved to Chicago to become the midday-hour DJ at Power 92 WPWX-FM, earning the moniker "The Midday Mami." Earlier, in 2000, Diaz appeared as a contestant on MTV's Fear.

After BET personalities AJ Calloway and Free departed in July 2005, and subsequent hosts Big Tigger and Julissa Bermudez moved on, Rocsi Diaz was chosen on July 6, 2006, to co-host 106 & Park alongside Terrence J. The show reached a vast audience, broadcasting to over 85 million households across the U.S., United Kingdom, Canada, Africa, the Caribbean, and Japan. For its Japanese debut, Diaz and Terrence J filmed segments there and attended the MTV Video Music Awards Japan.

In 2007, Diaz took on a BET News correspondent role in Def Jam: Icon, appearing in non-interactive cutscenes. On November 19, 2012, she joined Entertainment Tonight as a daily correspondent and weekend co-host. In June 2014, as part of the Entertainment Tonight cast, she received a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Entertainment News Program. Her tenure at the show concluded on September 17, 2014, with Nischelle Turner taking her place.

In August 2013, Diaz was honored by the National Council of La Raza: Nuestro Pueblo, receiving the Ruben Salazar Award for Communications. On January 23, 2015, she announced her hiring by CNN's HLN as a Los Angeles contributor for their show, The Daily Share. In August 2015, she revisited
