Rosalind Chao — Biography

Born on September 23, 1957, Rosalind Chao is an American actress who has established a memorable presence on screen. Audiences may recognize her as Soon-Lee Klinger from the mid-1980s CBS series AfterMASH. She also garnered acclaim for her portrayal of Rose Hsu Jordan in the 1993 film The Joy Luck Club. In the 1990s, Chao became a familiar face in the Star Trek universe, appearing as the recurring character Keiko O'Brien in both Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. More recently, she took on the role of Hua Li, Mulan’s mother, in the live-action 2020 reimagining of Mulan, and viewers might recall her as Dr. Kim from the 2003 television drama The O.C.
