Rue Mcclanahan — Biography
Rue McClanahan, born Eddi-Rue McClanahan on February 21, 1934, and passing away on June 3, 2010, was a celebrated American performer who made her mark in comedy and acting, particularly on the small screen. Audiences came to adore her for her memorable television characters. She embodied Vivian Harmon in the sitcom Maude from 1972 to 1978. Later, she portrayed Aunt Fran Crowley in Mama's Family for the 1983 to 1984 seasons. However, she achieved widespread fame as Blanche Devereaux, the effervescent Southern belle on The Golden Girls, a role she played from 1985 to 1992, and continued in the subsequent series, The Golden Palace, from 1992 to 1993.
