Hailing from San Jose, California, Sandra McCoy's upbringing was shaped by her parents' diverse pursuits. Her mother, Madeline, was an active force in education and fitness, serving as a high school P.E. teacher, tennis coach, and aerobics instructor. Her father, Gary, held a leadership role in law enforcement as the director of database management at the county Sheriff's Department, and also indulged his passion for aviation as a private pilot. Sandra's younger brother, who was two years her junior, found his athletic outlets in basketball and wrestling. In a devastating turn of events in the autumn of 1993, Sandra experienced the profound loss of her entire immediate family in a tragic airplane crash, leaving her as the sole survivor.
Despite this immense sorrow, the enduring spirit and zest for life that her family had cultivated within her allowed Sandra to persevere with remarkable resilience. With a foundation built on dance and gymnastics training that began at the age of eight, she set her sights on a career in the entertainment industry.
