Sophie Marceau — Biography

Sophie Marceau, born on November 17, 1966, is a renowned French actress, director, and writer. Hailing from Paris, France, she is the second offspring of Simone (née Morisset), a shop assistant (who passed away in 2016), and Benoît Maupu, a truck driver. Following her parents' divorce when she was just nine, Marceau rose to fame as a teenager with her starring roles in the films La Boum (1980) and its sequel La Boum 2 (1982), earning her a César Award for Most Promising Actress. She solidified her status as a prominent film star in Europe through a series of successful productions, which include L'Étudiante (1988), Pacific Palisades (1990), Fanfan (1993), and Revenge of the Musketeers (1994). Marceau attained international acclaim with her performances in Braveheart (1995) alongside Mel Gibson, Firelight (1997), and in the 19th James Bond film, The World Is Not Enough (1999), where she played the role of Elektra King opposite Pierce Brosnan. On a personal note, Sophie Marceau is presently single. She had a relationship with Christopher Lambert from 2012 until 2014, and previously dated Jim Lemley from 2001 to 2006, as well as Andrzej Zulawski from 1984 to 2001. She is a mother to two children: Vincent Żuławski, born in July 1995, and Juliette Lemley, born in June 2002.
