Stephanie Ruhle — Biography
Stephanie Ruhle, born Stephanie Leigh Ruhle on December 24, 1975, is an American television personality currently anchoring The 11th Hour with Stephanie Ruhle on MSNBC and serving as NBC News' Senior Business analyst. Before her current role, she held significant positions at Bloomberg Television and Bloomberg News, including managing editor and news anchor, and editor-at-large. She also co-hosted Bloomberg Television's show Bloomberg GO. Notably, Ruhle was one of three Bloomberg reporters who first exposed the trader responsible for the substantial 2012 JPMorgan Chase trading loss.
Raised in Park Ridge, New Jersey, by parents Frank and Louise Ruhle, she attended Park Ridge High School. Her academic journey led her to Lehigh University, where she earned a bachelor's degree in international business in 1997. Her studies included international experiences in Guatemala, Italy, and Kenya. Ruhle later returned to her alma mater to deliver the 2017 commencement address.
Ruhle's career in finance spanned 14 years prior to her journalism endeavors. During her college years, she interned at Merrill Lynch. In 1997, she began her tenure at Credit Suisse, spending six years in hedge fund sales, eventually reaching the position of vice president and becoming the top credit derivatives salesperson in the U.S. She moved to Deutsche Bank in 2003 as a credit salesperson focusing on hedge funds, concluding her eight-year career there as a managing director in Global Markets Senior Relationship Management. At Deutsche Bank, she established the Global Market Women's Network to foster female leadership.
Her transition to Bloomberg Television occurred in October 2011, where she initially co-hosted the early morning program Inside Track. By 2012, she was co-hosting the late morning show Market Makers with Erik Schatzker. Following that, she co-hosted Bloomberg GO with David Westin before departing the network.
