Sunrise Adams, born on September 14, 1982, in Como-Pickton, Texas, is an American adult film star. Reflecting on her upbringing in a small town with a mere population of 90, she recalls having limited entertainment and little companionship. Describing herself as a "curious and wild" tomboy, Adams demonstrated her rebellious nature as early as sixth grade, when she tattooed the word "horny" on her knuckles with a sewing needle and ink from a pen. She often got into trouble for doodling inappropriate images on her school desk.

At the age of 14, she had her first sexual experience with a 17-year-old. In high school, Adams excelled in sports, playing basketball, soccer, and football. Notably, she was the first girl to join both the Junior and Senior varsity football teams in her school district, where she played as the kicker and was romantically linked to the quarterback, gaining local media attention. Seeking to complete her high school education, she enrolled in a community college at 16.

When she turned 18, Adams worked at a Sonic Drive-In, where her aunt, Diane Thomas, also known as Sunset Thomas, visited, arriving in a tractor and trailer. Admiring her aunt, a prominent figure in the adult film industry, Adams expressed her desire to escape their rural town through a similar path. While initially concerned, Sunset ultimately decided to support Adams in her pursuit. Adams recalled, "I told my aunt I wanted out of my small rural town, and I saw adult entertainment as a way out, like she had." She adopted a stage name similar to her aunt's and dyed her hair blonde, based on advice that blondes often earn more.

Adams relocated to Los Angeles to launch her career in adult entertainment. She made her film debut on January 8, 2001, alongside Ed Powers in More Dirty Debutantes 186, which she later described as an experience she would prefer to forget, finding Powers repulsive. Like many newcomers in the industry, Adams was pushed to explore sexual acts that were unfamiliar to her, including her first encounter with another woman, Cherry Rain, in Cockless 3 (2001). To her surprise, she enjoyed the experience, despite her upbringing in a homophobic environment. She also participated in anal scenes early on, including a particularly rough scene in Vince Voyeur's Initiations 8 (2001) that left her needing medical attention.

Despite a challenging start, Adams quickly gained popularity and signed a two-year contract with Vivid Entertainment in August 2002, officially becoming a "Vivid Girl." Initially, she had turned down Vivid's offer for exclusivity, preferring to remain an independent performer. However, after a chance meeting at a gas station while finalizing her home purchase, she agreed to the terms, which required her to appear in eight films annually.
