About Tanya Tucker

Born Tanya Denise Tucker on October 10, 1958, in Seminole, Texas, this American country music talent burst onto the scene with her debut hit "Delta Dawn" in 1972, remarkably at the tender age of thirteen. Over the ensuing years, Tucker achieved a rare feat: transitioning from a child prodigy to a respected adult artist without alienating her fanbase. Her career has been marked by a consistent stream of songs reaching both the Top 10 and Top 40 charts. She has released multiple acclaimed albums and garnered numerous nominations for Country Music Association awards. Iconic songs from her extensive catalog include "What's Your Mama's Name?" and "Blood Red and Goin' Down" from 1973, "Lizzie and the Rainman" in 1975, and the 1988 hit "Strong Enough to Bend." In her personal life, Tucker was involved with Glen Campbell during the early 1980s. Her romantic history also includes relationships with Merle Haggard, Andy Gibb, and Don Johnson. Later, she had a relationship with actor Ben Reed, with whom she welcomed daughter Presley Tanita on July 5, 1989, and son Beau "Grayson" on October 2, 1991. Tucker has maintained an on-again, off-again connection with Nashville musician Jerry Laseter. The couple became engaged twice, in 1997 and again in 1999. Just prior to their planned 1999 wedding, Tucker called off the ceremony upon learning she was expecting her third child, daughter Layla LaCosta, born on June 25, 1999. She cited her reluctance to walk down the aisle while pregnant as the reason for the cancellation. Laseter went on to co-produce Tucker's albums "Tanya" in 2002, "Live at Billy Bob's Texas" in 2005, and "My Turn" in 2009.
