About Tay Conti
Born on June 9, 1995, Taynara Melo de Carvalho, a Brazilian talent known professionally as Tay Conti, has carved a path in professional wrestling and judo. Before her current tenure with All Elite Wrestling, she was a recognized figure in WWE's NXT under the name Taynara Conti.
Melo made her AEW debut on August 4, 2020, as Tay Conti, partnering with Anna Jay in the AEW Women's Tag Team Cup Tournament: The Deadly Draw. Though their team, TayJay, advanced past the quarterfinals by defeating Nyla Rose and Ariane Andrew, their tournament run ended in the semi-finals against Ivelisse and Diamante. Soon after, on the August 26 episode of Dynamite, The Dark Order extended an invitation to join their ranks, and on September 9, AEW officially announced Conti's signing with the company.
Her championship aspirations began on January 13, 2021, on Dynamite, where she challenged for the NWA World Women's Championship but was unsuccessful against Serena Deeb. Later, she earned a shot at the AEW Women's World Championship, facing Hikaru Shida on the April 21 episode of Dynamite, but again, victory eluded her. The fall of 2021 saw TayJay reignite their rivalry with Penelope Ford and The Bunny through a series of matches. Conti's pursuit of the AEW Women's World Championship continued on November 13 at Full Gear, where she faced Britt Baker but did not capture the title. The TayJay vs. Bunny & Ford feud culminated on December 31 on Rampage in a Street Fight, with Jay and Conti emerging victorious.
March 6, 2022, at Revolution saw Conti challenge for the AEW TBS Championship against Jade Cargill, but she was defeated. Her involvement in a trios mixed tag team match at Double or Nothing on May 29, alongside Sammy Guevara and Frankie Kazarian against Ethan Page, Paige VanZant, and Scorpio Sky, resulted in a loss for her team. A significant shift occurred on June 15 at Road Rager when Conti, alongside Guevara, joined the Jericho Appreciation Society, embracing a heel persona. Operating under the new ring name Tay Melo, she and Guevara successfully defended the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship against Dante Martin and Skye Blue on the August 12 episode of Rampage. Their subsequent feud with Ruby Soho and Ortiz saw them trade victories, ultimately defeating the duo at All Out with assistance from Anna Jay.
The rivalry between Melo and Soho resurfaced, leading to a confrontation at Winter Is Coming on November 30 where Soho emerged victorious. However, Melo and Jay later defeated Soho and Willow Nightingale on the December 28 episode of Dynamite. The feud continued on the January 11, 2023, episode of Rampage in
