Taylor Wane, originally named Joanne DuTremble, was born on August 27, 1968, in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, England. She was raised in a middle-class "Geordie" household and attended Breckenbeds Junior High School and Heathfield Senior High School, initially dreaming of becoming a schoolteacher. At the age of 18, her mother entered her into a calendar girl competition, which she won, leading her to transition into modeling. She began her career posing topless for the Daily Sport while also working at a jeweler in Newcastle. Subsequently, she signed with a modeling agency and collaborated with the renowned photographer Ellen von Unwerth.

Wane eventually made the move to London and then Los Angeles, where she entered the adult film industry in 1989 at the age of 21, marking her debut in the film X Factor: The Next Generation (1991).
