About Trish Stratus

Patricia Anne Stratigeas hails from Richmond Hill, Ontario and is a former professional wrestler and fitness model known by the stage name Trish Stratus. She attended Bayview Secondary School before continuing her education at York University, where she pursued studies in biology and kinesiology while playing soccer and field hockey. A faculty strike in 1997 altered her academic trajectory. While employed as a receptionist at a fitness center, a MuscleMag International publisher approached her for a photo shoot. She subsequently appeared on the publication's May 1998 cover and signed a two-year deal. For the following six months, she modeled extensively across magazine covers and joined Live Audio Wrestling as a radio host alongside Donnie and Jeff Marek on Toronto Sports Radio The FAN 590. Having been a wrestling enthusiast since childhood, her modeling visibility attracted the attention of the World Wrestling Federation. The organization signed her to a contract in November 1999 and arranged her training at Sully's Gym under Ron Hutchinson. Stratus debuted as a villainous character on the March 19, 2000 episode of Sunday Night Heat, initially appearing to scout potential male performers. She began managing Test and Prince Albert the following evening on Raw. During her managerial role, she took her first significant in-ring bump when the Dudley Boyz drove her through a table at Backlash. She also managed Val Venis during his Intercontinental Championship run before their partnership dissolved at SummerSlam. Her in-ring performance commenced on the June 22 SmackDown taping when she won a tag match with her charges against the Hardy Boyz and Lita. This victory sparked a feud with Lita, culminating in an Indian Strap match on July 24 Raw that Stratus won with Stephanie McMahon's assistance. The remainder of 2000 saw her unsuccessfully pursue the Women's Championship.

Early 2001 introduced a storyline involving Vince McMahon that built upon his wife Linda being kayfabe institutionalized. The resulting narrative featuring Vince and Stratus generated jealousy from Stephanie McMahon. Their February 25 No Way Out confrontation ended with Stephanie triumphant following William Regal's interference. The angle escalated the following Raw night when Regal executed his finisher on Stratus before Stephanie dumped sewage upon her. Vince then humiliated Stratus further by forcing her to strip to her undergarments and simulate animal sounds.
