Born Verónica Fernández Echegaray on June 16, 1983, Verónica Echegui, the Spanish actress, embarked on her professional journey in cinema. Her initial foray into feature films was in 2006, portraying the lead in the drama My Name Is Juani. Following this, she graced the screen in a variety of productions including My Prison Yard, Kathmandu Lullaby, Family United, Unknown Origins, and My Heart Goes Boom!. Beyond her acting roles, Echegui ventured into directing with her 2021 short film Tótem loba, a work that garnered recognition with a Goya Award for Best Fictional Short Film. The news of her passing was shared on Monday, August 25, 2025, after she had been receiving care at the 12 de Octubre Hospital in Madrid for several days due to an illness. She died on Sunday, August 24.
