Yaya DaCosta — Biography

Born Camara DaCosta Johnson on November 15, 1982, the artist known to the world as Yaya DaCosta is an accomplished actress and model hailing from the United States. Her journey in the spotlight began when she secured the second-place position in the third season of America's Next Top Model. DaCosta later carved out a significant television career, appearing in ABC's daytime soap opera All My Children in 2008, followed by a role in the ABC comedy-drama Ugly Betty in 2009. Her presence continued on NBC's medical drama Chicago Med, where she was a regular from 2015 to 2022.

In 2010, DaCosta featured in Lisa Cholodenko's acclaimed film The Kids Are All Right. Her work in the ensemble earned her and her fellow cast members nominations at both the Critics' Choice Movie Awards and the Gotham Awards. A notable role arrived in 2015 when DaCosta took on the challenging part of singer Whitney Houston in the Lifetime television film Whitney. Her portrayal garnered significant acclaim and led to a nomination for the Black Reel Award for Outstanding Actress in a TV Movie or Limited Series.
