Alina Kabaeva — Biography

Alina Maratovna Kabaeva, who is also spelled Kabayeva, is a distinguished figure from Russia and Uzbekistan. She is known for her multifaceted career as a politician, musician, media executive, and former rhythmic gymnast. A recognized talent in her sport, Kabaeva has earned the title of Honoured Master of Sports from the Russian authorities. She holds a remarkable record as one of the most awarded gymnasts in rhythmic gymnastics, boasting two Olympic medals, 14 medals from World Championships, and 21 from European Championships. In 2001, she made an appearance in the Japanese film, Red Shadow, where she showcased her gymnastics skills. Kabaeva has been involved in the Public Chamber of Russia since 2005 and has held the position of chairwoman of the Public Council of the National Media Group since February 2008. This media organization oversees several outlets including Izvestia, Channel One, and REN TV. Additionally, Kabaeva served as a deputy in the State Duma from the United Russia party from 2007 until 2014. She ascended to the role of chairwoman of the board of directors of the National Media Group in September 2014. In January 2011, Kabaeva graced the cover of Vogue Russia and embarked on her music career, performing publicly for the first time that same month.
