Born into affluence in Ripon, Yorkshire, Staveley’s family background was marked by considerable success. Her mother, Lynne, distinguished herself as a champion show jumper.

From a young age, Staveley displayed a competitive spirit, excelling as both an equestrian and a sprinter. She secured admission to Cambridge University to study languages but departed before completing her degree, citing stress. Her early career involved experiences as a waitress and a fashion model.

In 2013, Staveley received a diagnosis of Huntington's disease, a hereditary and untreatable neurological disorder characterized by the gradual deterioration of brain nerve cells. She inherited the genetic predisposition for this condition from her mother.
