Ananya Nagalla — Biography

Ananya Nagalla is an actress who has made her mark in Telugu cinema. Her acting journey began in 2019 with the biographical film Mallesham, where she was credited under her birth name, Anusha Nagalla. Prior to this, Nagalla had taken a pause from her professional activities to fully immerse herself in preparing for the role of Mallesham's wife, Padma. Her performance in the film garnered significant praise. The Indian Express highlighted her "innate innocence," noting that she "shines in the role." Similarly, The News Minute found her "endearing" and appreciated the "scope to emote" she was given. The Hindu also recognized her promising debut, stating that she "brings in the innocence required for her part." This early success led to a nomination for the SIIMA Award for Best Female Debut – Telugu.

During her time working on Mallesham, Nagalla also participated in the short film Shaadi, earning a nomination for Best Actress at the SIIMA Short Film Awards.

In 2021, Nagalla was featured in two prominent films. First, she appeared in the science fiction drama Play Back, where a reviewer for Zee Cinemalu singled her out as the most compelling performer, commenting that while Nagalla was "decent," other actors struggled to deliver. Later that same year, she took on a role in Vakeel Saab, a Telugu adaptation of the Hindi film Pink. Director Venu Sriram cast her in this project after being impressed with her work in Mallesham. Her contribution to Vakeel Saab was well-received, with The Hindu noting that Nagalla, along with her co-stars Nivetha and Anjali, delivered "remarkable" performances, specifically mentioning how Nivetha and Ananya "internalise and convey the mixed feelings of courage, fear and despair effectively." A Deccan Chronicle critic also commended Nagalla, stating that she and her female co-stars had "excelled in their parts."
