Caitlin Upton — Biography

Caitlin Upton is an American professional in the real estate industry and a former beauty pageant winner. She earned the title of Miss South Carolina Teen USA in 2007 and subsequently competed in Miss Teen USA 2007, securing the position of third runner-up. Upton became widely recognized globally due to a perplexing and incoherent answer she provided to a question during the national pageant in August 2007. This event led to considerable public scrutiny and personal challenges for her. In a 2015 conversation with New York Magazine, she revealed that the intense public reaction contributed to a period of profound depression and suicidal ideation. Upton characterized this phase as extremely challenging and mentioned that she kept her internal struggles concealed, sharing them only with a select group of confidantes. Following the pageant controversy, Upton has participated in modeling campaigns for brands like Nautica and Wrangler and has been featured in prominent national publications such as Seventeen, Cosmo Girl, and American Cheerleader. In 2010, Upton participated as a competitor on the reality television show The Amazing Race 16, under the name Caite Upton, and her team concluded the competition in third place.
