Celina Jaitly — Biography
Celina Jaitly is an Indian actress, primarily recognized for her work in Hindi cinema. Her journey to the silver screen began after a successful stint in the modeling and beauty pageant world, where she was crowned Miss India in 2001 and achieved fourth runner-up status at the Miss Universe pageant that same year. Her acting career officially launched in 2003 with the film Janasheen, directed by Feroz Khan.
Born to a Punjabi Hindu father, Colonel V. K. Jaitly, and her mother Meeta, who was of Afghan Hindu heritage and served as a nurse in the Indian Army, Celina's upbringing was marked by frequent relocations. Her father's military career meant the family moved across various cities and towns in India, leading Celina to attend over a dozen different educational institutions, including City Montessori School in Lucknow and Canossa Convent School in Ranikhet. Her mother also taught at DePaul School in Brahmapur, Odisha, where Celina pursued and completed a degree in Commerce with Accountancy (Hons.) from IGNOU. She has a younger brother who followed their father's path and joined the army.
Before venturing into films, Celina briefly worked as a marketing executive for a cell phone company in Kolkata, West Bengal. Her family has since settled in Mhow.
Celina Jaitly is married to Peter Haag, an Austrian businessman and hotelier. The couple welcomed twin sons in March 2012. In 2017, she gave birth to another set of twins; tragically, one of the boys passed away due to a heart condition. Currently, Celina divides her time between Austria, Singapore, and Dubai, engaging in international film projects and endorsement commitments.
