Christina Chong — Biography

Christina Chong is a British performer recognized for her contributions to television and cinema. Her television credits include notable appearances in "Black Mirror" from 2013 and "24: Live Another Day" in 2014. On the film side, she was part of the cast of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." More recently, Chong has taken on the significant role of La’an Noonien-Singh in the ongoing series "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds," which began in 2022.

Born in Enfield, London, on September 18, 1983, Chong's background is a blend of Chinese and English heritage, with her father being Chinese and her mother English. She was raised with five siblings in Broxbourne. A significant shift in her upbringing occurred when her parents separated, leading her and her siblings to move with their mother to Longridge, her mother’s hometown. In Longridge, Chong and her siblings experienced the distinct reality of being the only children of mixed race in their school.

Her affinity for dance emerged early, and she pursued this passion at the Sutcliffe School of Dance in Longridge. At the age of fourteen, her talent earned her admission to the esteemed Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts in London. She dedicated five years to refining her craft there, ultimately graduating from the institution.

Following her formal training, Chong initially pursued a career in musical theatre. She secured a role in Elton John's "Aida," which was staged in Berlin. However, a personal injury unfortunately curtailed her musical theatre ambitions. This setback prompted a redirection of her professional focus toward acting. Undeterred, she pursued further specialized training at the well-regarded Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York City.

Upon her return to London, Chong encountered difficulties in securing acting work. To sustain herself financially, she accepted smaller supporting roles and participated in commercials. Additionally, she supplemented her income by teaching acting classes at schools and made an investment in her father's Chinese restaurant located in Harpenden during her early career.

Chong maintains a private stance regarding her personal life. While she was reported to have dated Spanish model and actor Iggy Blanco, details about her relationships are scarce and not widely confirmed. Current reports suggest she is single and concentrating on her professional endeavors. Her musical output includes the release of the "Twin Flames E.P." in 2023.
