Daisy Lowe — Biography
Daisy Lowe, born January 27, 1989, is an English model known for her work in fashion editorials, advertising, and runway shows. She is the daughter of singer-songwriter turned designer Pearl Lowe and Gavin Rossdale, the lead singer of the band Bush. Gwen Stefani is her stepmother.
Born in Westminster, London, Lowe spent her formative years in Primrose Hill before relocating to Hampshire with her mother, staying with her grandparents to attend South Hampstead High School. She has younger half-siblings from both her mother's marriage to Danny Goffey – Alfie, Frankie, and Betty – and her father's marriage to Gwen Stefani – Kingston, Zuma, and Apollo. Lowe identifies as Jewish. While initially believed to be the daughter of Bronner Handwerger, a paternity test in 2004 confirmed her godfather, Gavin Rossdale, as her biological father. Her mother detailed this experience in her book, All That Glitters.
Lowe's modeling career began at the tender age of two, with early photoshoots occurring when she was twelve and fourteen. At fifteen, a scout discovered her in Camden Town, leading to a contract with London agency Select. Her career gained significant traction in 2006 with an appearance in Vogue Italia, photographed by Steven Klein, and later for a W magazine feature. She also modeled for the Urban Outfitters catalog, French Connection advertisements, and was featured in British Harper's Bazaar. In 2007, she shared a Jane magazine editorial with Lydia Hearst-Shaw, returned to Vogue Italia, and posed nude for the cover of i-D magazine with her then-partner, Will Cameron. On the runway, Karl Lagerfeld selected her for Chanel, and she has walked for designers and brands such as Topshop, PPQ, Nanette Lepore, Sue Stemp, Charlotte Ronson, Henry Holland, Vivienne Westwood, Agent Provocateur, Burberry, Converse, Dr. Martens, and her mother's lace dress collection. Lowe described modeling as a "cool outlet" for self-expression, with fashion intersecting her interests in music and art. Her magazine portfolio includes covers and editorials for Tatler, Elle, GQ, Vogue, Marie Claire, Interview, and many others. Recent campaigns have featured her for Marc by Marc Jacobs, Pringle of Scotland, DKNY, Louis Vuitton, Mango, and Esprit.
Beyond modeling, Lowe has appeared in the BBC documentary series Class of 2008, co-hosted Glamour's Best Dressed 2008, and contributed to an Elle UK online blog. She has also worked as a DJ, appeared in music videos for Armand Van Helden and Dirty Pretty Things, and hosted events for Tommy Hilfiger and Dolce and Gabbana. In 2009, she was featured in The First Days of Spring, a film accompanying Noah and the Whale'
