Dasha Nekrasova — Biography

Dasha Nekrasova, born Daria Dmitrievna Nekrasova, is a multi-talented figure hailing from Belarus and the United States. Her professional life encompasses acting, filmmaking, and a prominent presence online, including her work as a podcast host. In the spring of 2018, specifically on March 29, Nekrasova launched "Red Scare," a podcast that delves into cultural commentary alongside her co-host, writer and critic Anna Khachiyan. This program has garnered attention for its association with various cultural spheres, including the "dirtbag left" and the "new right," as well as the community that congregates around Dimes Square, a particular urban area in New York City situated between Chinatown and the Lower East Side. The podcast engages with contemporary American cultural and political issues, adopting a blend of humor and seriousness.

Nekrasova's filmmaking career took shape in 2020 with her directorial debut, "The Scary of Sixty-First," a film in which she also starred alongside Betsey Brown and Madeline Quinn. The influence of Nekrasova and Khachiyan on other performers became evident in 2021 when Sydney Sweeney, in an interview with The New York Times, shared that her portrayal of a "mean girl" character in the series "White Lotus" was partly inspired by the podcast hosts. Nekrasova's own online activities have also drawn notice; in November 2021, she shared a photograph on Instagram with Alex Jones, the host of "Infowars," and later expressed admiration for him on "Red Scare," describing him as "an incredible entertainer." On television, Nekrasova can be seen in a supporting role in the third season of HBO's acclaimed drama "Succession," playing Comfrey, a public relations specialist adept at managing crises. In early 2024, Nekrasova was featured in and modeled for "No Agency New York Magazine's" "No Erotica Issue #4," appearing topless. Further reflecting her cultural impact, in June 2024, singer Charli XCX revealed to The Face that her song "Mean Girls," featured on her 2024 album "BRAT," was conceived from her "fascination with mean girls." This fascination was partly influenced by Nekrasova and Charli's own curiosity about why women who present with a certain "succubus-looking, dead-eyed" aesthetic, like herself and her friend Gabriette Bechtel, are often perceived as mean.

Of Belarusian heritage, Nekrasova married visual artist Reilly Sinanan in May 2025. Her past relationships include musician Daniel Lopatin, known professionally as Oneohtrix Point Never, and she was previously engaged to comedian Adam Friedland, who has hosted the podcast "CumTown" and currently hosts "The Adam Friedland Show."
