Über Edy Williams

Edy Williams, born Edwina Beth on July 9, 1942, is an American actress known for her work in television and B movies. She is also recognized as the former spouse of sexploitation director Russ Meyer. Originating from Utah and having spent her formative years in Oregon and Southern California, Williams began her journey in the entertainment world as a model and beauty pageant participant. Following her successes in various local competitions, she secured a contract with 20th Century Fox.

During the 1960s, Williams featured in a variety of television shows and films, including appearances in iconic series like The Beverly Hillbillies, Batman, Adam-12 (specifically the Venice Division episode), Lost in Space, as well as films like The Naked Kiss and the Sonny & Cher movie Good Times. In 1970, she took on the role of Ashley St. Ives in Russ Meyer’s first mainstream film, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, and went on to star in his next mainstream project, The Seven Minutes, in 1971. That same year, she married Meyer, shortly after the release of Beyond the Valley of the Dolls.

In March 1973, Williams was featured in a full-color photo spread for Playboy, shot by her then-husband, Russ Meyer. Following their divorce in 1977, she remained active in acting, predominantly in films that often showcased nudity. In 1982, Williams made an appearance on an episode of The People’s Court as a defendant in a case called "The Star Who Wouldn't Pay," where she faced a lawsuit over unpaid publicity work. She counter-sued for a portion of the retainer she had provided. After her stint on The People’s Court, her film appearances became less frequent during the 1980s and early 1990s. Since then, Williams has been known for her bold and flamboyant fashion choices, often seen at both the Academy Awards and the Cannes Film Festival.
