Born on December 11, 1996, Eliza McCartney is a prominent New Zealand athlete specializing in the pole vault. Her athletic achievements include a bronze medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics. McCartney holds the current national records for New Zealand and the Oceania region, having cleared 4.94 meters. She also set the outdoor world junior record at 4.64 meters, a mark that has since been surpassed indoors. Prior to her Olympic success, she secured a silver medal at the 2015 Summer Universiade and finished as the runner-up at the 2018 Commonwealth Games.
