Ella Junnila — Biography

Ella Junnila, a standout Finnish athlete, excels in the high jump and competes for the club Tampereen Pyrintö. Her athletic journey began with earlier affiliations at Janakkalan Jana and Vammalan seudun Voima. Junnila has achieved significant success on the international stage, earning a bronze medal at the 2019 European Athletics U23 Championships by clearing a height of 192 centimeters. She further cemented her prowess at the 2021 European Indoor Championships, where she secured another bronze medal, setting a new Finnish record of 196 centimeters. Her initial national record was established on June 11, 2019, in Turku during the Paavo Nurmi Games, with a jump of 194 centimeters. Junnila then surpassed this mark, raising the Finnish record to 195 centimeters on July 3, 2019, in Tampere. Her talent earned her a place representing Finland at the 2020 Summer Olympics.
