Emily Browning — Biography

Born on December 7, 1988, Emily Browning hails from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. She is the eldest of three children, the firstborn and only daughter to parents Andrew and Shelley Browning, making her the older sibling to two brothers. The Australian actress is married to American writer and director Eddie O'Keefee, with whom she tied the knot in April of 2023. Her formative education took place at Hurstbridge Learning Co-op and Eltham High School. Browning's acting journey commenced at a young age, with her inaugural film credit being the 1998 television movie, The Echo of Thunder. This was followed by appearances in television series like High Flyers in 1999, and a recurring presence in Something in the Air from 2000 to 2001, as well as Blue Heelers from 2000 to 2002. Her career gained significant momentum with the 2002 horror film Ghost Ship, a role that brought her considerable attention. In 2005, Browning garnered the Australian Film Institute International Award for Best Actress for her performance as Violet Baudelaire in the cinematic adaptation of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events.
