Genesis Carmona — Biography

Genesis Carmona, a Venezuelan fashion model, beauty queen, and university student, tragically lost her life while participating in anti-government demonstrations in 2014. Her death transformed her into an enduring emblem of opposition to the Nicolás Maduro administration amidst widespread countrywide protests. Prior to her untimely end, Carmona had been actively involved in Valencia's fashion scene, appearing in events like Venezuela Moda and Fashion Week Valencia. Her aspirations for a national crown saw her compete as a pre-candidate for Miss Venezuela in 2010, though she did not advance to the main competition. In 2013, at the age of 21, she achieved a significant victory in a regional pageant for her home state of Carabobo, securing a title and being crowned Miss Turismo Carabobo 2013.
