Jeri Lynn Ryan — Biography

Jeri Ryan entered the world as Jeri Lynn Zimmerman on February 22, 1968, in Munich, West Germany. Her father, Gerhard Florian Zimmerman, served as a Master Sergeant in the United States Army, while her mother Sharon worked as a social worker. Growing up alongside her older brother Mark, the family relocated frequently across military installations in Kansas, Maryland, Hawaii, Georgia, and Texas. When Jeri turned eleven, her father left active military service, and the Zimmerman household established permanent roots in Paducah, Kentucky. She completed her secondary education at Lone Oak High School in 1986 and pursued higher learning at Northwestern University in Chicago, earning recognition as a National Merit Scholar. During her university years, she competed successfully in pageantry, capturing the title of Miss Northwestern Alpha Delta Phi in 1989 at the organization's sixth annual competition. Armed with a bachelor's degree in Theatre, Ryan relocated to Los Angeles to launch her entertainment career. She secured roles across numerous television programs and motion pictures, gaining prominence through appearances on shows such as Matlock, Melrose Place, and Star Trek: Voyager, along with the series Dark Skies. Her small-screen work extended to made-for-television movies including Nightmare in Columbia County, NBC's In the Line of Duty: Ambush in Waco, Co-ed Call Girl, The Sentinel, Men Cry Bullets, Dracula 2000, The Last Man, and Down with Love. Currently, Ryan shares her Los Angeles residence with her spouse, chef Christophe Eme, alongside their children Alex and Gisele. By February 2026, her Instagram following had grown to 278,000 supporters.
