Jo Collins, originally named Janet Canoy, was born on August 5, 1945, in Lebanon, Oregon, USA. She gained fame as Playboy magazine's Playmate of the Month in December 1964 and was later honored as Playmate of the Year in 1965. The iconic pictorial that featured her was shot by the renowned photographer Mario Casilli. Jo was discovered by Playboy while working as a page on the television game show "Queen for a Day." Following her discovery, she took on roles at the Playboy Clubs, first as a Bunny and then as a Bunny Mother.
Of Norwegian and Spanish heritage, Jo was married to baseball player Bo Belinsky from 1970 to 1975. She earned the nickname "G.I. Jo" for her tours with the United Service Organizations, where she traveled to Vietnam to entertain troops during the Vietnam War. This mission began when she personally delivered a copy of Playboy to a lieutenant named Jack Price from the 173rd Airborne Brigade, who had subscribed to the magazine and qualified for a unique offer to receive his first issue from a Playmate in person.
