Über Kat Dennings
Katherine Victoria Litwack, performing under the stage name Kat Dennings, is an accomplished American actress. Her career began professionally in 2000 when she guest-starred on the HBO series Sex and the City in an episode titled "Hot Child in the City". Between 2001 and 2002, she took on the role of Sarah, a fifteen-year-old girl raised by her single father, in the brief WB comedy series Raising Dad. The year 2002 saw her appearing in a Disney Channel production called The Scream Team, where she portrayed a teenager who unexpectedly encounters a collection of supernatural beings. Throughout the period from 2001 to 2010, Dennings maintained an active online blog and experimented with video content creation on YouTube. Her transition to feature films occurred in 2004 with Hilary Duff's Raise Your Voice, in which she played Sloane, a quiet music student. Two supporting film roles followed in 2005: she appeared alongside Catherine Keener in The 40-Year-Old Virgin and played the character April in Down in the Valley. A 2006 comedy-crime film titled Big Momma's House 2 featured her as a defiant young woman.
In February 2011, Dennings was selected for a lead role in 2 Broke Girls, a network sitcom developed by Michael Patrick King and Whitney Cummings that premiered on CBS on September 19, 2011. The show centers on two struggling women, with Beth Behrs portraying a destitute New York heiress and Dennings playing an assertive, outspoken Brooklyn native. Attracted to the opportunity to reach broader audiences, she embraced this television role. The series concluded after six seasons when CBS made the cancellation announcement on May 12, 2017.
Dennings comes from Ashkenazi Jewish heritage. She articulated in 2008 that while Judaism forms part of her ancestral background, religious practice itself does not feature prominently in her personal life, though she maintains strong ethnic and cultural ties. Her romantic history includes a three-year relationship with 2 Broke Girls actor Nick Zano lasting from 2011 to 2014, followed by a two-year partnership with vocalist Josh Groban from 2014 to 2016. In May 2021, Dennings confirmed she was romantically involved with musician Andrew W.K., having met him in Los Angeles that same year. On May 13, 2021, the pair publicly announced their engagement via Instagram. The couple exchanged vows on November 27, 2023, in their Los Angeles residence. As of early 2025, Dennings maintains a social media presence with approximately six million followers
