Über Katarina Van Derham
Katarina Van Derham, born Katarina Ambrusova on December 11, 1975, is a Slovak-American model, actress, and entrepreneur in publishing. She gained prominence as the longest-serving St. Pauli Girl, portrayed Bob Saget's girlfriend on the HBO comedy series Entourage, and established Viva Glam Magazine. Hailing from Slovakia, she has one brother. At the age of 22, Van Derham immigrated to the United States in 1998 with just $500. Prior to her relocation, she completed her education in Slovakia at Stredna Priemyselna Skola Textilna and later studied at Oxford University in England.
She was previously married to James Bilella, a native of Los Angeles, which led to her adopting the surname Van Derham. With a playful twist, Van Derham often cites her vegan lifestyle as a reason for altering the spelling of "ham" in her last name. Her modeling career took off in 2002 when she was discovered by a photographer while she was working as a waitress in Santa Monica. Since then, she has featured in over 20 national and international commercials and graced the cover of more than 60 magazines. Throughout her career, she has also represented various brands as a spokesmodel.
In her notable role as the longest-serving St. Pauli Girl, her selection came via a reader’s poll on the Maxim website in 2009, followed by portraying the Snow Queen in Coors beer advertisements. Van Derham has been recognized as one of the 100 sexiest women globally by magazines across three continents.
In 2012, she launched Viva Glam Magazine, an online publication covering topics like fashion, beauty, wellness, travel, entertainment, and food, all while promoting an ethical lifestyle. The magazine draws inspiration from classic glamour and old Hollywood, adapted to contemporary conscious living. By September 2016, Viva Glam enjoyed 4.5 million monthly views. The magazine garnered press attention in 2012 when it bestowed the Sexiest Power Woman of All Time award on model manager Nadja Atwal. Later, in summer 2013, it published its inaugural print issue featuring Canadian model Ashley Diana Morris. This landmark edition was available for free.
Viva Glam Magazine also produced a docu-series titled The 90s Girl, which provides a behind-the-scenes glimpse into Van Derham's life and that of her team. This series premiered in 2017 and airs on Wednesdays on both the magazine's website and YouTube, with an average run time of 20 minutes and eight episodes released.
In 2018, Van Derham ventured into producing a web series called MODELS Talk, hosted alongside Candace Kita, where they interview models about their industry experiences. Additionally, she launched the “Glamour Garden” Limited Edition Lipstick Collection on February 1, 2018, in collaboration with LA Splash. The collection consists of
