Katarina Witt, born on December 3, 1965, is a former German figure skater who achieved remarkable success during her competitive career. Representing East Germany on the international stage, she captured Olympic gold medals on two separate occasions, first claiming the top prize at the 1984 Winter Games held in Sarajevo and again four years later at the 1988 Winter Games in Calgary.
