Kay Parker — Biography
Kay Taylor Parker, born August 28, 1944, in Birmingham, England, was a British adult film performer and B-movie actress who eventually became a metaphysical counselor. She relocated to the United States during her teenage years and grew up in Kansas City, Missouri, in a strict family environment. As a young adult, she worked as a secretary and model before pursuing acting interests that eventually led her to California during the late 1970s.
Parker entered the adult entertainment industry at age 33 in 1977, making her entrance relatively late compared to peers in that field. Director John Leslie convinced her to appear in his production. Her distinctive features included a British accent, brunette hair, green eyes, and a 5'6", 130-pound frame. She appeared in more than 100 films across her career, specializing in mature woman roles with major production companies including Caballero Home Video, VCA, and Alpha Blue Archives. Her signature series, beginning with Taboo in 1980 and continuing with Taboo II in 1982, established her reputation and iconic status within the industry. She collaborated with notable performers including Ron Jeremy, John Leslie, Sharon Kane, and Annie Sprinkle.
Despite the controversial subject matter of some productions, particularly the incestuous storylines in her Taboo films, Parker maintained a professional reputation and faced minimal personal scandals. She believed entering the industry at a mature age protected her from many industry pitfalls. She left performing in 1986, dissatisfied with the direction adult films were taking, and pursued spiritual healing work as a New Age practitioner.
Following her retirement from performing, Parker appeared in the 1991 horror film Merchant of Death and contributed to industry documentaries. She authored an autobiography titled Taboo: Sacred, Don't Touch published in 2004, which examined her spiritual development and career experiences. She died on October 14, 2022, in Los Angeles at age 78 from natural causes. Her professional achievements earned her induction into multiple halls of fame, including the AVN in 1990 and the XRCO in 1985.
