Keira Knightley is a celebrated actress from England, recognized for her impressive roles in both independent cinema and major blockbusters, especially in period dramas. Throughout her career, she has garnered numerous awards and nominations, including two Academy Award nominations, three British Academy Film Awards, and a Laurence Olivier Award. In 2018, she was honored with an OBE at Buckingham Palace for her contributions to drama and charitable efforts.
Born in London to actor parents Will Knightley and Sharman Macdonald, Knightley began her career early, securing an agent at just six years old. Her initial work was in commercials and television movies. She had a small part as Sabé in the sci-fi film Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, released in 1999. Her career breakthrough arrived when she took on the role of a tomboy soccer player in the 2002 film Bend It Like Beckham, which catapulted her to international fame.
Knightley became widely recognizable for her performance as Elizabeth Swann in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, starting in 2003.
