Kristy Swanson — Biography

Kristen Nöel "Kristy" Swanson, born on December 19, 1969, is a notable American actress recognized primarily for her role as Buffy Summers in the 1992 film Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Additionally, she portrayed Catherine "Cathy" Dollanganger in the film adaptation of V.C. Andrews' bestselling novel Flowers in the Attic. Swanson hails from Mission Viejo, California, where she was born to parents Robert and Rosemary Swanson, both of whom were physical education teachers, and she completed her education at El Toro High School.

During her time on the reality show Skating with Celebrities, Swanson began dating partner Lloyd Eisler, despite him being married to his pregnant wife, Marcie, at the time. On February 16, 2007, she welcomed a son, Magnus Hart Swanson Eisler, just a month after Eisler's divorce from Marcia O'Brien was finalized. The couple tied the knot on February 7, 2009, in San Luis Obispo, California, and they currently reside in Santa Clarita, California.

Kristy Swanson's journey in the entertainment industry began at The Actors Workshop, led by R.J. Adams, after which she quickly made her way into television commercials and guest roles in series including Cagney and Lacey and Alfred Hitchcock Presents. Her cinematic debut came in 1986 with two John Hughes films: a non-speaking part in Pretty in Pink and a role in Ferris Bueller's Day Off as the character who presents a complicated excuse for Ferris’ absence from class. That same year, she landed her first leading role in Wes Craven's Deadly Friend, playing Samantha—"the girl next door." The following year, she appeared as Cathy in the adaptation of Flowers in the Attic. By 1990, Swanson had established herself through various television appearances, including roles in Knots Landing (1987–1988), Nightingales (1989)—her first lead in a TV series, albeit for just one season—and a brief stint in Burt Reynolds' show B.L. Stryker (1989).
