Leah Remini portrayed Carrie Heffernan on the CBS comedy series The King of Queens during its run from 1998 to 2007, and later took on the role of Vanessa Celluci in another CBS sitcom called Kevin Can Wait from 2017 to 2018, working opposite Kevin James in both projects. She served as coproducer and host of the A&E documentary series Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath, which aired between 2016 and 2019, earning her two Primetime Emmy Awards in the Outstanding Hosted Nonfiction Series or Special category. Between 2010 and 2011, she also cohosted the daytime talk program The Talk. Her film work includes appearances in the comedies Old School from 2003 and Handsome from 2017, as well as the romantic comedy Second Act released in 2018. Having grown up within the Church of Scientology, Remini departed from the organization in 2013. In 2015, she published Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology, a memoir that achieved the top position on the New York Times best-seller list. The following year, she created an Emmy Award-winning documentary series for A&E titled Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath, which gave voice to victims and former members of Scientology. Beginning in July 2020, Remini has served as cohost of the podcast Scientology: Fair Game, which she cohosts with Mike Rinder.
